Haridwar: BJP MLA from Jhabrera, Deshraj Karnwal has changed his name by adding “Chamar Saheb.”
From now on MLA Deshraj Karnwal will be known as Deshraj Karnwal Chamar Saheb.
It is reportedly said that Deshraj has been trying to change his name for past one year and has been writing application regarding the change of name to Assembly secretariat but his application was denied.
After that, Karnwal took forward his application and applied it in the Gazette notification and hence his name was approved.
Karnwal further also explained the reason behind name change and he said that like others write Thakur, Sharma, Agarwal and Rawat proudly and that is why he is adding ‘Chamar Saheb’ in his name and want to show it proudly about his identity that he does not want to hide it .
Not only that, MLA Deshraj now explains the full meaning of the word Chamar Saheb added with his name. Deshraj says that ‘Cha’ is ‘chamdi’, ‘Ma’ to ‘mass’, R to ‘Rakht'(blood).
He also said that he was always engaged in social work and he has seen casteism closely and thus he wants to set an example by changing name. He said that the casteism is still prevailing in the society and thus he wants to make sure that there is no caste biasness and that is the reason why he added’Chamar Saheb’ is his new identity and this is what he wants people to recognise him with.
