An 18-year-old youth from Vasai in Maharashtra’s Palghar committed suicide after he was blocked by his friends on social media on Friday, February 26.
The parents of the victim, a first-year Bachelor of Mass Media student, alleged that his friends on a Whatsapp group instigated him to commit suicide.
A case has been filed on this matter related to the incident.
TOI reports, the victim was part of a group called “Namunee”, it was set up by the victim’s friend in July last year. The boy got often blocked by the group admin as he objected to the vulgar conversations going on in the group. “He would request his friends on their personal chat to add him back to the group,” His father said.
A very unusual behaviour emerged in the boy, the boy simply refused to go to college. “When asked what his problem was he always remained silent,” his father said.
TOI reports, “The victim’s father said that he was reserved in nature and started learning animations believing that his classmates would unblock him when they needed help with some college projects.
