Bharatiya Janata Party’s national vice president and former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia on Thursday praised PM Narendra Modi’s efforts for eradicating terrorism from India.
While speaking at the auditorium at Chaudhary Charan Singh University in Meerut, Scindia said that “India has started its fight against terrorism and we will not stop until we are done with eradicating it completely. Modi Ji has entered our ‘dil’ (heart) and terrorists are hiding in their ‘bils’ (hideouts).”
Speaking on the situations in Kashmir in 1990’s in comparison to the current scenario, Scindia as quoted by a leading daily, said, “We were asked who all wanted to go to Lal Chowk to hoist the national flag in 1991. We were young and wanted to be a part of the historical day or else would have regretted for an entire lifetime. This is when along with Murli Manohar Joshi, Narendra Modi and many others planned to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk on January 26, 1991.”

“I still remember when we landed in Kashmir, we were asked to shut the windowpanes of the plane. We were then moved to buses with military security all around us. This was ‘our’ Kashmir? And we were asked to remain quiet as anything could happen. When we reached Srinagar, all of us were arrested and put in barracks. In those barracks, we kept hearing noises of shooting all night. Think how all of us would have felt when we eventually hoisted the flag amidst heavy military security – without which we were not allowed to move. After 28 long years from that incident, now in 2019, Kashmir is finally ours,” she added.
Mentioning the budget allotted for the development of Jammu & Kashmir, Scindia said that “Ladakh did not even have a university, it was made during the rule of BJP government in 2019. But now, Kashmir will be developed just like the other states of the country and this money will be used for their development.”
