Vat Savitri 2020: Simple mehndi designs for the festival

Vat Savitri Vrat 2021: In North India, the fast and worship of Vat Savitri (Vat Savitri Vrat) are celebrated with full faith and reverence. While women perform the fast and puja of Vat Savitri for the longevity of their husbands, virgin girls also observe this fast for the desired bridegroom.

According to Hindi Panchang, the festival of Vat Savitri is celebrated every year on the Amavasya day of the senior month.

The significance of this day this year is even greater because while the solar eclipse is taking place on this day, Shani Jayanti will also be celebrated. On this day, Sahagian women worship the banyan tree as per tradition while observing a waterless fast for the good health and longevity of their husbands. But with the changing times, virgin girls are now also vowing to wish for a good groom. According to the English calendar, Vat-Savitri Vrat will be celebrated on June 10 this year.

Importance of gram in vat tree fast?

In the context of this fast of Krishna paksha of the senior month on the day of Amavasya, it is believed that on this day Savitri succeeded in pleasing Yamaraj and giving life to her deceased husband Satyavan. It is believed that Yamaraj had entrusted Satyavan’s life to Savitri as a gram, Savitri gave a new lease of life by placing the gram in her husband’s mouth. Therefore, gram is of special importance in Vat Savitri Puja.
