Veteran actress Geetanjali Ramakrishna passes away at 72 in Hyderabad

Veteran actress Geetanjali Ramakrishna passed away on the wee hours of Thursday due to cardiac arrest. She breathed her last at a private hospital near Film Nagar in Hyderabad and was undergoing treatment.

In her 6 years spanning career, Geetanjali featured in over 500 films across multiple languages like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Senior NTR introduced her to the silver screen with his self-directorial Seetharama Kalyanam in 1961.

Originally named as Mani, Geetanjali was born at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. Some of Geetanjali’s noted films include Seetharama Kalyanam, Dr Chakravarthy, Letha Manasulu, Bobbili Yuddham, Devatha, Letha Manasulu, Gudachari 116 and Sambarala Rambab.

The last rites of the great actress will be performed this evening and tributes have already started to come in from all quarters of the film fraternity.
