VHP dubs Delhi youth’s murder ‘mob lynching’, flays seculars

New Delhi, Oct 12 (IANS) Condemning the recent murder of a youth in Delhi due to alleged affair with a Muslim girl as a case of “mob lynching”, the Vishva Hindu Parishad on Monday said the minds of “so-called seculars” in the country needed treatment.

The Parishad also blamed the “so-called secular fraternity for promoting bigotry and violent hatred” and questioned their reactions based on the victim’s identity.

VHP Central Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain said: “We have to reconsider our position on the mentality of ‘jihadi’ and secular segments of society. They need to be treated before things go beyond control.”

Rahul, 18, of Moolchand Colony was beaten to death in Adarsh Nagar last Wednesday by five persons over his alleged love affair. Five persons, including the girl’s brother, were arrested. Three accused are juveniles.

Jain also claimed that reactions by “secular” persons to various crimes depended on the religious identity of the victims.

“It is a matter of great concern for the entire country that whenever a Hindu boy falls in love with a Muslim girl, that boy is tagged a criminal and gets marked for sure death penalty. But when a Muslim boy has a relationship with a Hindu girl, even by force or fraud, he does not come under any category of crime for them. Tagging a Hindu youth a criminal and his killing by mob lynching cannot be an indicator of a civilised society,” Jain said in a statement.

The VHP leader allegedly that in the last four-five years, there were more than 73 incidents of mob lynching of Hindus. “In Delhi itself, there have been more than 9 such instances in the last 5 years.”

Jain also slammed Dalit organisations like the Bhim Army. “They are working overtime to destabilise elected nationalist governments, promote anti-national activities, defame the Hindu society and the country. The society will never forgive them,” he claimed.
