Viral audio clip said to be of BJP's Praveen Nishad urges people to vote for SP-BSP in Gorakhpur

A day before the voting for the high-profile Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat, a 1.34 minute audio clip said to be of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Praveen Kumar Nishad has gone viral on social media, in which the Sant Kabir Nagar candidate Nishad can be heard urging people to vote for SP-BSP candidate instead of his party’s candidate.

Praveen Nishad, however, denied that it was his voice in the audio clip and said it was a conspiracy by rivals.

Terming the audio fake, Pravin Nishad, whose NISHAD party recently split with Samajwadi Party and inked a pact with BJP, lodged an FIR at Shahpur police station.

While speaking to the media reporters, Nishad said, “The audio is fake. The Opposition is depressed. The voice in the audio is not mine. I have lodged an FIR against unknown persons.” “Modiji and Yogiji have worked for Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. There is no confusion…. Nishad voters will vote for Ravi Kishan in Gorakhpur,” he said.

Praveen, son of Nishad party chief Sanjay Nishad, drew attention last year by winning on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s home turf, Gorakhpur, in the bypolls on SP ticket. This year, he is the BJP’s candidate from Sant Kabir Nagar seat while actor-turned-politician Ravi Kishan is the BJP candidate in Gorakhpur.

As per the reports, an FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons under section171-F (punishment for undue influence or personation at an election), 171-G (false statement in connection with an election) and Information Technology Act 66B (dishonestly receiving stolen computer resource or communication device), 66 D (punishment for cheating online).”
