Vivah Panchami commemorates Lord Rama and Goddess Sita’s marriage. In the Hindu calendar, it is observed on Panchami (5th day) of the Shukla Paksha during the month of Margashirsha.

It commemorates Lord Rama and Goddess Sita’s ceremonial marriage anniversary. The celebrations take place in Lord Rama temples throughout India, particularly in the Mithilanchal region and some parts of North India.

Vivah Panchami 2022 Date:

November 28, Monday.

Panchami Tithi Begins – November 27, 2022 4:25 PM.

Panchami Tithi Ends – November 28, 2022 1:35 PM.

Vivah Panchami Rituals

It is widely observed in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. On this auspicious occasion, temples are illuminated with lamps.

The divine wedding ceremony is acted out as part of the Vivah Panchami ritual.

During the day, a grand procession travels from one temple to another. It culminates in the evening with the wedding ceremony.

The idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita are dressed and adorned in wedding attire and jewellery. The entire event is known as ‘Ram Vivah Utsav.’

Several cultural events are also planned for this occasion. Ramleela is also organised in a number of regions.

Devotees take holy baths in renowned Mithilanchal lakes such as ‘Dhanushsagar,’ ‘Gangasagar,’ and ‘Argaza Pond.’
