Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the citizens of India to light up diyas on Sunday, April 5 for nine minutes. While many people took part and did the same but a few flouted the rules of lockdown and neglected social distancing.
On the other hand, District President of Bharatiya Janata Party’s woman wing in Balrampur, Manju Tiwari, resorted to Celebratory firing. She was captured on camera while doing so.

Soon after the video went viral, BJP leader Manju Tiwari was booked for firing in the air around 9 PM yesterday. “I saw the entire city illuminating with candles & earthen lamps. I felt like it was Diwali & fired in the air out of jubilation. I accept my mistake & apologise for it,” the leader says.
While PM Modi’s 9 Baje 9 minutes was quite a success but many of them flouted the lockdown and social distancing rules. Some also resorted to bursting of firecrackers thereby destroying the air quality index.
Tiwari is the district president of the party’s women wing in Balrampur district. Dev Ranjan Verma, Superintendent of Police, has directed the kotwali nagar police to register a case against the woman and initiate action.
