Bharatiya Janata Party leader and spokesperson Sambit Patra was left embarrassed on national television when Congress’s Gourav Vallabh asked him to tell the number of zeroes in a trillion. A video of the debate on a TV new channel from September 10 is doing rounds on social media, prompting netizens and trollers to be active.
The debate was over Modi government’s 100 days in power after it returned to power in May 2019. During the discussion, Patra reiterated PM Narendra Modi’s vow of the country on being its way to becoming a $5 trillion economy.
However, Congress spokesperson took a jibe over the mention of $5 trillion economy and asked the BJP leader to tell if he knows the number of zeros in 5 trillion.
Vallabh said Patra and his colleagues keep speaking of $5-trillion economy, “tell me the number of zeroes that are there in a trillion.” On this, Patra tactfully avoided answering the question and attacked Rahul Gandhi.
