Bollywood singer, Deepak Thakur’s new song ‘Robinhood Bihar Ke’ featuring former DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has been released today.
The music video features Pandey along with Deepak Thakur. The song has been composed and sung by Thakur. The singer had earlier shared a poster of the song on his Twitter handle. The poster showed Pandey seated on a couch with Thakur standing right behind him. The song was released on September 20. It can be viewed on Deepak Thakur’s YouTube channel ‘DT Production’. His YouTube channel has more than two lakh subscribers.
Deepak Thakur, who hails from Muzaffarpur district, rose to fame when he made it to the finals of the most controversial reality show Bigg Boss 12, hosted by actor Salman Khan. The Bollywood singer has also been roped in as the Bihar Election Commission’s brand ambassador for the Gaya district.
DGP Gupteshwar Pandey hails from the Buxar district of Bihar and had once tried his luck in politics as well. It is said that in 2009, he wanted to contest for Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket from Buxar for which he had resigned from the post of IPS officer. BJP decided to field its veteran leader Lamuni Choubey instead. His term as DGP was going to end in February 2021. However, Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service. His request of VRS was approved by the Governor of Bihar. A notification regarding this has already been issued.
Pandey’s resignation comes ahead of the Assembly poll in Bihar scheduled for October-November this year, triggering speculations that the officer would contest the upcoming elections. According to media reports, he has made up his mind for starting a new inning of his post-VRS life through politics from his home district Buxar. Buxar is Brahmin and Rajput caste dominated.
Gupteshwar Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, had recently made headlines during investigation into Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
Pandey was openly critical of Mumbai Police in the late actor’s death case. He had also sparked a controversy when he said that actor Rhea Chakraborty didn’t have the ‘stature’ (aukaat) to comment on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
