New Delhi: After the possibility of an alliance in Delhi between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress continued to rise and dip with twists surfacing each day over the last month, another new development has taken place today, April 12. In the latest, Congress Delhi Incharge PC Chacko on Friday said in a press briefing that the party is “even today” ready to form an alliance with AAP in Delhi.

Chacko said, “AAP wanted to have an alliance in other states also which is not practical,” adding further that “Every state is different; we will announce the seats tomorrow or day after tomorrow. If they are ready for an alliance in Delhi with Congress, we are ready even today.”

Chacko told media, “We are ready for an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party provided they stick to the basis on which we had discussions in Delhi, corresponding to our strength in Delhi.”

“Since AAP is not taking a practical view on this matter, we are compelled to go on our own and fight all the 7 seats of Delhi”.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a day before, had rejected the Congress proposal for an alliance in Delhi, bringing to an end the long stressed negotiations for a tie-up for the Lok Sabha elections. While Congress wanted three seats in the national capital, it was not in the favour of sharing seats with the AAP in Haryana and Punjab.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh who was mediating the alliance talks said on Wednesday, “The AAP rejected the Congress proposal as it was impractical and wrong. The Congress is trying to benefit the BJP and help it in states, including UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi and Kerala.”
