WhatsApp beta update assures users don't send image to wrong contact

The Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is working on a new feature to ensure users do not mistakenly send an image to the wrong contact. The new WhatsApp beta update allows users to see the name of the recipient below the caption to double check the name of the person to whom they are sending an image.

In the stable version, when users send the image, all they can see is a small icon on the top left corner with the profile picture of the person to whom they are sending the image.

WhatsApp is rolling out the feature in the latest version 2.19.173, of its Android Beta app.

According to WABetainfo, the latest WhatsApp beta update shows that the users will be able to see the name of person who’ll be getting the image right below the caption, to make sure that the image is being sent to the right contact.

A clear mention of the contact name below the caption area may prove helpful for the image sharing experience on WhatsApp and reduce the instances of sharing an image with the wrong contact.

The feature will be available for the image shared on both individual chats and groups as well. Since, the new WhatsApp feature is already in beta, the company might soon bring it to the stable version of the Android app.

Apart from this, after 3 months, WhatsApp has also added Picture in Picture feature to the app with the latest 2.19.177 beta update.

The new update will allow users to use Picture in Picture feature when you switch to another chat or when WhatsApp is in background. The initial version of the feature did not allow users to switch chat without closing the video.
