After six-years with Congress, South Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar has joined Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Congress removed her from the AICC official spokesperson post this morning. Later, the politician resigned from Congress’s primary membership alledging dictatorship by leader seated higher. Khushbu had joined Congress in 2014, leaving DMK.

“Few elements seated at a higher level within the party, people who have no connectivity with the ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party sincerely, are being pushed and suppressed,” Khushbu Sundar, wrote.

Who is Kushboo Sundar?

Khushbu started her film career as a child artist in the Hindi film ‘The Burning Train’ (1980). She was also a part of Hindi films ‘Naseeb’, ‘Laawaris’, ‘Kaalia’, ‘Dard Ka Rishta’, and Bemisal as a child artist. Later, in 1985, she starred opposite Jackie Shroff in ‘Jaanoo’. She also played an important role in the 1990’s ‘Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin’, which starred Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit.

Having an immense fan following in South India, her followers built her a temple. She left DMK in 2014 and joined Congress, saying then that was like her homecoming. Although she did not get the 2014 Lok Sabha ticket, she made the Rajya Sabha member from the Party.

She joined the DMK in 2010 and left the party in 2014. When she left the Dravidian party, she had said, “Hard work for the DMK had been a one-way path.” The same year in 2014 she joined the Congress after meeting Sonia Gandhi. The actor had then said, “I finally feel I am home. Congress is the only party that could do good for the people of India and unite the country.” However, Sundar was not given a ticket for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls which the DMK-Congress alliance swept in the state, nor was she chosen for the upper house.
