Thousands of devotees are set to arrive for the Ardh Kumbh that will begin on Tuesday. According to sources, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi could be one of those taking a dip in the holy waters. Though there is no confirmation on the exact that, reports claim that Gandhi might reach the festive mela on either 18th or 19th January.

Rahul Gandhi was earlier on a two day UAE tour where he interacting with the Non Resident Indians. Party General Secretary & Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had told a news agency, “He had various interactions with people. The highlight was his public meeting in which over 40,000 people packed the stadium to hear him.”

Ardh Kumbh is the most auspicious time in the Hindu calendar in six years will take place between January 15 and March 4 2019. According to mythology, in a war between gods and demons, a few drops of the nectar of immortality had fallen upon four places, namely, Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain, making them holy.

Today, ahead of the inaugural day of the Ardh Kumbh 2019, fire broke out at the venue, destroying large parts of the tented area according to the officials. No loss of life was reported.
