Woman accuses Pakistan captain Babar Azam of sexually abusing her, ‘he got me pregnant and beat me up’

The woman has alleged that Babar Azam had exploited her on several occasions since 2010 before making his way into the country's national team.

Pakistan caption Babar Azam fell into a controversy after a woman accused him of sexual exploitation for the last 10 years. The woman has alleged that Babar Azam had exploited her on several occasions since 2010 before making his way into the country’s national team, as per reports in Pakistan media. She has claimed that she knew the Pakistani skipper as they both grew up in the same neighbourhood and were schoolmates.

The woman claimed she had supported Babar financially when the Pakistan captain was making his mark in competitive cricket. She also said Babar physically abused her and threatened her before she went to the police.

The woman also accused Babar of physically abusing her and threatening to kill her. As Babar was not from a well-to-do family, she revealed that she took care of his financial expenses in the early part of his career.

Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq shared a clip of the woman making the allegations. “He promised to marry me, he got me pregnant, he beat me up, he threatened me and he used me,” the woman was quoted as saying. Pakistan Cricket Board of the player is yet to respond to the allegations leveled by the woman.

In October 2019, Babar Azam was named captain of the Pakistan cricket team in T20Is, ahead of the Australia series. Babar Azam is currently in New Zealand on a 14-day quarantine period as he is will be leading Pakistan in the upcoming T20I series against the hosts. Azam was officially named the Men In Green’s Test skipper in November 2020  ahead of their tour to New Zealand.
