A Mumbai-based woman has accused CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s eldest son Binoy Kodiyeri of repeatedly raping her over a decade on the pretext of marrying her. An offence was registered against Binoy Kodiyeri at a police station in the city under the charges of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating.
The 33-year-old Mumbai-based victim, who hails from Bihar, claimed that her eight-year-old son’s father is Binoy Kodiyeri. She filed the complaint at the Andheri Oshiwara police station on June 13.
The 33-year-old complainant alleged that the assault took place when she was working at a dance bar in Dubai. Binoy used to frequently visit the dance bar and the relationship bloomed from there. According to the complaint, Binoy had told the woman to quit her job and promised to marry her.
Binoy had reportedly rented a house for the complainant and used to take of her other expenses too.
However, efforts to abandon her began. Woman alleged that she wasn’t aware that Binoy was married. In 2018, the woman came to know about Binoy’s earlier marriage and when confronted with this, the relationship ruptured and death threats followed.
An FIR under Section 376, 376 (2), 420, 504, 506 for sexual assault, cheating, intimidation were registered against Binoy based on the complaint. Police opine that further probe is necessary as the incident took place years back.
Refuting the allegations, Benoy Kodiyeri told media persons in Kerala that the woman was trying to blackmail him and had asked for Rs 5 crore about six months back. He acknowledged knowing the woman.
