World Arthritis Day 2020: World Arthritis Day is celebrated annually on October 12 to raise awareness about Arthritis around the world. The theme of World Arthritis Day 2019 was Time2Work. This theme would be followed in the financial year 2020 also.

Arthritis is common among old age persons. This is more prevalent than diabetes, AIDS and cancer, etc. Let’s read about the Arthritis on the occasion of World Arthritis Day.

The theme of World Arthritis Day 2019 was Time2Work. This theme would be followed in the financial year 2020 also.

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis means the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints which leads to pain and stiffness in the joints. There are various types of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition that can affect people at any age while osteoarthritis is the most common reason for age-related joint pain.

The main symptoms of arthritis are pain and stiffness in joints which usually worsen with age. But don’t think that arthritis is inevitable in old age persons.

World Arthritis Day: History

October 12 is celebrated as World Arthritis Day since 1996. It was started by the Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) to increase global awareness about the rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMD).

World Arthritis Day: Significance

The observance of World Arthritis Day serves as a timely reminder to all of us as to how grave the looming danger is. World Arthritis Day brings back lost focus on this disease and aims to promote awareness amongst people. Its primary objective is to educate people about Arthritis, and how can one prevent/cure it. It teaches people about different aspects, and types of Arthritis one can have in his/her lifetime.
