World homeopathy day is celebrated each year on April 10. This day is celebrated to honor the birth of the father of the Homoeopathic system of medicines Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.
Born in Paris, France, he was a German physician, who was an acclaimed scientist, a great scholar, and linguist. He discovered the way to heal through the use of homeopathy. He died on July 2, 1843.
Homeopathy medicines are safe to use because they rarely cause side effects. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like. It means that a substance in which a small amount is taken will cure the same symptoms it causes if taken in large amounts. Homeopathy is derived from the Greek words homeo, which means similar, and pathos means suffering or disease.
World Homeopathy Day 2021: Origin and History
Homeopathy medicine was discovered by Dr. Samhuel Hahnemann who was a great scientist and a physician. He experimented on himself. He started studying the effects of the cinchona drug. He did a self-application to understand the effects. After the study, he concluded that the cinchona drug can induce malaria-like symptoms in a healthy human body, and gave the alternate system of medicines Homeopathy. According to homeopathy ‘similia similibus curantur’ i.e. likes can cure likes.
Hahnemann had a degree of MD. Later, Samuel quit his job to work as a translator. He then learned several languages such as English, French, Italian, Greek, and Latin of medical, scientific textbooks.
