World Obesity Day is observed on 4th March every year. The day has its own  motive to create awareness about obesity and its adverse effects that are harmful to our overall health and different body organs.

World Obesity Day 2021: World Obesity Day is observed on 4th March every year. The day has its own  motive to create awareness about obesity and its adverse effects that are harmful to our overall health and different body organs.

It educates people across the world about different ways to tackle obesity. According to WHO, obesity rates have nearly tripled since 1975 and have increased almost five times in children and adolescents, affecting people of all ages from all social groups in both developed and developing countries.

Obesity is a major risk factor for chronic diseases like type-2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and certain cancers.

World Obesity Day 2021 Theme

World Obesity Day 2021 focuses on the global campaign ‘Every Body Needs Everybody,’ which indicates that our body needs every organ and for that every organ in our body should be taken care of.

 This campaign invites people around the world to collectively address this global crisis. It also defines obesity as a disease that itself is a risk factor for other diseases.

World Obesity Day 2021 Events

The Obesity Collective is hosting a 90 minute virtual event with expert speakers from across the country. We will explore many different aspects of obesity with a series of ‘rapid talks’. We are working to understand and explore the science and the many different facets of this important health issue. It is critical for us all to move beyond shame and blame!

Increase awareness- It is important to create awareness about obesity as a disease at this point of time. It is also important to understand the root causes of obesity and the steps needed to address these.

Encourage advocacy- It strives to change how obesity is addressed across society. Also, encourages people to stand up for a change, and despite of blaming and shaming, people should beyond to eliminate this perception.

Improve policies- Building a system that encourages a bright future. Creation of policies that prioritise obesity as a serious health issue and work on fighting against it.

Share experiences- Coming together can help fight obesity and challenges related to it effectively. Sharing experiences can inspire others to achieve this common goal
