'You went so far': RJD supremo Lalu Prasad mourns Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's death

Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) supremo, Lalu Prasad Yadav, expressed his deep grief as Bihar’s ace politician and former Union Minister, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh passed away today.

Taking it to Twitter, Lalu wrote, “Dear Raghuvansh Babu! What did you do I told you the day before yesterday, you are not going anywhere. But you went so far. I am silent I am sad Will miss you very much.”

Raghuvash Prasad Singh passed away on September 13 at All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. He had fallen critically ill after developing post-COVID complications. Singh’s condition had deteriorated on Friday night, and he was admitted to AIIMS on Saturday with complaints of recurrent cough. He was later put on a ventilator.

The senior Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) leader had resigned from the party on September 11. Singh while his treatment in the hospital, wrote his resignation on a general page. Bihar Deputy CM and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had also invited Prasad to join his party.

“After (former Chief Minister and socialist icon) Karpuri Thakur’s death, I stood by you for 32 years, but no more,” he wrote in a not-so-steady hand, adding that he had received love and support from the party.

But Lalu Yadav made it clear he was not giving up on his old friend so easily, and sent back a handwritten reply of his own, writing: “…I cannot believe it… First you get better, then we will talk. You are not going anywhere. Know it.”

A renowned Mathematics professor, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh was one of the few leaders of the RJD who has never been charged with corruption or vandalism. He was the closest associate of Lalu Prasad Yadav and represented the RJD in Delhi politics on most occasions. However, he was irked and resigned as the party’s national vice president.
