Kolkata: Addressing a rally in Serampore – town near Kolkata – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, April 29 warmed Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that her 40 lawmakers are in contact with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and will desert her as soon as the elections are over on May 23.
“Didi, on 23 May, the day of results, the lotus will bloom everywhere and your MLAs will leave you and run. Even today, Didi, 40 of your MLAs are in contact with me,” the Prime Minister said.
He further added, “since you have betrayed the people” it would be difficult for her to survive.
Earlier in a “candid interview” with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Modi had revealed that Mamata Banerjee sends him kurtas every year. “We are good friends. Whenever we get time, we have lunch together. Mamata didi sends me Bengali sweets even now,” Modi had added.
