New Delhi, Nov 13 (IANSlife) India Art Festival, an annual marketplace of the visual arts that aspires to democratize art, will kick off its fifth edition in the national capital from Thursday, where 450 artists from India and abroad will showcase their artworks in the show.

All set to take place in the Thyagaraj Sports Complex from November 14-17, the affordable-art event features a mixed art fair model where art galleries as well as independent artists exhibit under one roof, helping to create a wider art ecosystem.

Out of a total of 450, the art show will display works of around 250 independent artists, which include people in mid-career, established and upcoming ones.

“Every year thousands of new artists come out of art schools in the country but seldom get art galleries to represent them immediately,” the art festival founder-director Rajendra said in a statement.

“Many mid-level art galleries also look for art fairs in the metro-cities to reach out to the wider art buyer base,” he added.

The presenting master artists include Jogen Chowdhury, Akbar Padamsee, Manu Parekh, Krishan Khanna, Paresh Maity, T. Vaikuntam, Lalu Prasad Shaw, G R Iranna, Ramesh Gorjala, Baiju Parthan, Bose Krishnamachari, Seema Kohli, Sudip Roy, HR Das, Shyamal Mukherjee, Niren Sengupta and Swaraj Das, among others.

This season, the festival will spread its “movement of democratising art viewing and buying” to Bengaluru in April 2020. Currently takes place in New Delhi and Mumbai.
