Its been a year of protests from the protest against CAA, NRC in January at Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi to Farmers protest against new farm laws on the Delhi borders in December, the year 2020 has been a roller coaster of a ride, so let’s take look at ho many protests has teh year 2020 seen and what were the reasons for it.
It was one of the first social movements in 2020 which was done to protest against the new laws of citizenship and the residentship. The protest had been going since 2019 last few months and continued till March 2020, but had to be stopped after Covid-19.
After covid-19 lockdown, many migrants and workers were supposed to remain in the states they were locked in as the borders were shut. As three months passed by, the migrants got very angry and came down to roads in the middle of Covid-19 to protest and show their anger.
A 19-year-old Dalit woman was raped by four upper-caste men in Uttar Pradesh, after fighting for her life for 2 weeks in Delhi, she passed away after naming the four accused. Moreover, after her death, the victim was cremated by the police without the consent of her family. The protest was in teh months of October- November against the Hathras Gangrape case.
Nurses who have been tirelessly working at hospital are not given the money and salary they deserve, and to protest against the same salary issues the nurses had gathered to talk about it.
Farmers have been protesting from all the neighbouring areas at the borders of Delhi against the new farm laws which are basically targeting them by removing the Minimum support price and making conditions for them even worse. The protests have been going on from past few months and till date, they are sitting in these cold situations at the Delhi borders.
