AAP Punjab Candidate List 2027: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to release its first list of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on October 31. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann confirmed this on Friday after a top-level meeting with party leaders.
This will mark an early start to the AAP campaign in Punjab where they will look to allow candidates ample time to campaign in their areas. “Party President Aman Arora and committee member Harpal Cheema participated virtually, while the other members attended in person in Delhi. Many names were discussed during the meeting,” said Mann.
The announcement was made after a meeting between AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Manish Sisodia, in-charge of Punjab affairs for AAP.
“We had a meeting with our party leadership where we discussed possible candidates for the elections and important issues regarding Punjab. The shortlisted candidates will be presented to the Political Affairs Committee,” Mann said.
“I invite you all to note that we will release the first list tomorrow, around 12 pm. The Aam Aadmi Party has consistently been the first to announce its candidates in the past, and it will do so this time as well.”
The committee will reconvene on Saturday. Aman Arora (Punjab AAP President) and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema were also present during the meeting via video conference.
Reports say that the first list will be released at around midday.
Although AAP has yet to officially release any details regarding how many candidates will be included in the first list, The Tribune report that the party leadership have almost finalised approximately fifteen names.
It was reported that the initial discussions revolved around current MLAs that have already won their Assembly seats on two occasions. Many may stand for a third term.
However, the final decision will be taken by the PAC. At this point, the party have yet to confirm which seats/candidates will be included.

Punjab has 117 assembly seats and next election will take place in early 2027.
The current Punjab Legislative Assembly has a five-year term and will finish in March 2027. The Election Commission of India (ECI) have begun looking at how prepared everything is for the election.
Recently, a delegation visited all 23 districts to discuss with district election officers, police commissioners and senior police officers.
AAP swept to power in Punjab in 2022 with a historic win in the elections. They won 92 out of the 117 Assembly seats and Bhagwant Mann became the Chief Minister. They currently have 94 MLAs in the Assembly.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, AAP will be looking to keep the government and protect their position within the state. The first list will give us an insight into how the leadership will approach current MLAs and leadership at a constituency level.
The first list of AAP candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections 2027 is expected to be released on October 31. However, the final list will be confirmed once the Political Affairs Committee have finished their discussions.
