Agra: SC/ST Commission chairman Ramshankar Katheria’s niece home set on fire

In an attempt to kill Uma Katheria, the niece of SC/ST Commission Chairman Ramshankar Katheria, a person set her house on fire in the wee hours Thursday morning. The house is burnt into ashes and everything is destroyed. It is also learnt that the man has a dispute with Uma’s husband and that could be the reason behind this attack.

The incident happened around 1:20AM when Uma’s house was set on fire in sector 11 of Awas Vikas colony in Agra.

Uma and her one and half-year-old son Aart suffered minor burn injuries and were taken to private hospital in Agra for medical treatment and they are reported fine.

A total of five members were present in the house when the incident took place. Uma’s husband Kamal Katheria, mother in law Pushpa and father in law Baijnath Katheria were inside the house when someone set it on fire from outside.

The local police have started the investigation. Police have also received CCTV footage from a neighbours house and a person has been detained and the police are interrogating him.

The house is burnt into ashes and everything is destroyed. It is also learnt that the man has a dispute with Uma’s husband and that could be the reason behind this attack.

Prime minister Narendra Modi has attended Uma’s wedding on February 22, 2015.
