The decision of the Yogi Adityanath government to remove Dr Kafeel Ahmad has been strongly condemned by the Residents Doctors Association of AIIMS.

Dr Harjeet Singh Bharti, President, AIIMS Residents Doctors’ Association, said, “We’ve already said that doctors alone are not responsible. Health Secretary, principal all have to take accountability. Dr Kafeel is being made a scapegoat.”‬ ‪ ‬

‪Dr Ahmad had helped save the lives of scores of children by personally ferrying oxygen cylinders using his own money from outside at BRD hospital in Gorakhpur, which is the hometown of Uttar Pradesh CM, ‬Yogi Adityanath. ‬

Dr Kafeel was removed as the nodal officer for BRD Medical College’s Department of Pediatrics, and replaced by Dr Bhupendra Sharma.

‪Over 70 children have died in just one week due to a shortage in oxygen supply. ‬

There are reports of growing outrage among doctors at BRD medical college against Yogi government in the state.
