Annapurna Yojana ₹3,000 payment delayed: West Bengal’s Annapurna Yojana has started sending money to women, and the first round of payments has already reached nearly 1.1 crore beneficiaries. The scheme gives ₹3,000 every month through Direct Benefit Transfer, and it is meant for eligible women in the state. The rollout began in early June 2026, and reports say the government has made the payment to bank accounts that passed the checks.
The state says it got around 1.6 crore applications for the scheme. Out of these, about 26 lakh were rejected after screening. The reasons included deaths, doubts about citizenship, problems with domicile status, names removed from voter rolls, and people having more than one account.
Adhikari said “The scrutiny and filter were necessary since we cannot transfer taxpayers’ money from the government coffers to non-Indians,” Adhikari said.
Some applicants may still be waiting because their bank and Aadhaar details are not fully linked, or because DBT has not been turned on in their account. Another common problem is a wrong name in the form. If the name on the application does not match the Aadhaar card or bank passbook, the payment can get stuck.
Using the same mobile number for more than one family member can also slow things down. If a woman has more than one bank account, the wrong account may have been listed, or DBT may not be active in the one given in the form.

Officials also said that door-to-door verification has to be completed before payment is released in some cases. Reports from June also said the scheme was opened to women aged 25 to 60, with beneficiary lists being shown at block, panchayat, and booth level so people could raise objections if needed.

The West Bengal budget for 2026-27 set aside ₹36,000 crore for Annapurna Yojana. The Women, Child Development and Social Welfare Department got the biggest share, at ₹52,308 crore, largely because of this direct cash transfer plan.
The government also said the scheme covers more than 26.5 lakh women from the Scheduled Caste category, nearly 5 lakh Scheduled Tribe women, and more than 1.2 lakh Gorkha women from the Darjeeling hills. It also said about 8.15 lakh names were added through Jan Kalyan camps.
