Days after Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders earned the blue tick status or verification badge on their respective Twitter accounts, eight of the recipients reported of de-verified accounts despite getting verified on October 12.
Claiming to it be an ‘ego-clash,’ the youth wing of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party accused Malviya and asked him to request Twitter to verify their accounts. However, according to the reports quoting some high-profile sources from the party on the condition of anonymity, it emerged that Malviya had apparently refused saying the party only makes account verification requests for MLAs and MPs.
A verified account on Twitter is acknowledged by a blue tick that appears next to the user name. It gives credibility to the account on the social media platform as the antecedents of the account holder are checked and confirmed by Twitter.
A few of those who received the coveted blue tick even thanked Mahajan on Twitter. But soon, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya allegedly wrote to the Twitter out of jealousy to get them unverified.
The result was an outrage against the BJP IT cell head amongst the karyakartas of BJYM and BJP supporters across the social media. They even alleged that the current BJP IT cell head is an AC room activist and has no knowledge of what’s happening on the ground and that he has ruined the IT cell in last few years resulting in creating differences amongst the BJP online supporters.

It is to be seen how this fight between BJYM leadership and BJP’ social media in-charge Amit Malviya, will it have any effect on the ruling party’s social media campaign.
