Assam: Dhemaji businessman shoots himself by accident, dies

In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning at Dhemaji Bhadrapara, one Sadagar Baruah accidentally shot himself while cleaning his licenced pistol at his own residence.

Tuesday at approximately 10:00 a.m., while the incident was occurring, Baruah reportedly brought out his licenced pistol for cleaning. The bullet entered his cranium, killing him instantly.

Family members of the deceased Baruah told the police that it was an accident, but locals suspect it was a suicide.

According to family members, Baruah suffered from a protracted illness, causing him to become critically ill. Wednesday, the family intended to transport Baruah to a hospital in Chennai for better medical care.

Baruah ran a motorbike dealership in the municipality of Dhemaji.

Meanwhile, Dhemaji Police have assumed responsibility for the case, seized the firearm, and initiated an investigation to determine the true cause of death.

However, the police officers are reticent to elaborate on their findings in this case.
