In a surprising incident in Assam, a student reportedly secured 9th position in the recently declared Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) results in the state, where he did not even appear for the subject.

Arnab Kapil, a student of Cotton College in Assam, himself informed the council that he had not appeared in the exam, but was still awarded excess marks.

As per sources, Arnab scored 473 marks out of 500 in the exam. He had chosen Maths as his fourth subjects, in accordance with the norms and regulations of the council, and it is compulsory to appear for the fourth subject examination.

However, in another incident, Dayita Pushpa Swami, a student of Holy Cross School, Silchar, secured 6th position in the second place, as she was marked absent in the 1st place in Mathematics exam. The board later rectified the mistake.
