In a sudden turn of events, Bihar former Chief Minister and veteran Bhartiya Jan Congress (Rashtriya) leader, Jagannath Mishra breathed his last on Monday morning. He was 82.
Mishra was suffering from old age ailments and was undergoing medial treatment for the same in Delhi.
Mishra has served as Bihar’s chief Minister thrice in life time. However, before heading as the Chief Minister, Mishra was a teacher. He began his career as a lecturer and became professor of economics at Bihar University. Later on, he went on to join politics.
Mishra has served as a minister in the Union Cabinet and was formerly a member of the Indian National Congress, before leaving Congress to join the Nationalist Congress Party and later the Janata Dal (United).
Mishra was always appreciated for donating most of his inherited land to the landless. However, he did suffer significant taint to his repute when he was convicted, along with 44 others, in a fodder scam case by a CBI court in 2013.
