‘Black Eid’ trends on Twitter

As millions of Muslims celebrate the joyous festival of Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday to mark the end of month-long Ramzan fasts, situations in India were a little grim.

In wake of the recent instances of mob violence targeting Muslims over the past few days, people on social media are carrying out a unique campaign, protesting against the of the government’s inability to stop such incidents. They tied a black band on their arm to and came out in support of the peaceful protest.

The campaign started on Saturday but picked up momentum by Sunday.

Hashtags like #StopKillingMuslims, #StopMobLynchings and #EidWithBlackBands kept trending on Twitter as thousands of people are supporting the campaign.

The campaign has garnered much response from the people on Twitter.
