Bomb found on Akal Takht Express train in Amethi

In a shocking incident, the passengers of Akal Takht Express train were in a panic on Thursday after the recovery of ‘suspicious object’ from the AC-B3 coach of train number 12317. This caused the train to halt at Akbarganj Railway Station near Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. The Bomb Disposal Squad and the Amethi Police have reached the spot and have reportedly, identified the ‘suspicious object’ as a low-intensity bomb which has been defused.

The ‘suspicious object’ being a low-intensity bomb has been claimed by SP GRP Saumitra Yadav. However, he said that the low-intensity bomb has been deactivated and the train has left for Amritsar. As per reports, the information of the ‘suspicious object’ inside the Amritsar-bound train was received around 1.15 am on Wednesday night. Lucknow Division RPF Commandant Satya Prakash has been quoted as saying by a report that the recovery of a bomb-like ‘suspicious object’ was made from near the toilet.

There was also a note recovered along with the bomb. According to reports, the letter warns that there will be retaliation to the killing of top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Dujana in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on August 1. Meanwhile, the train has been evacuated and a search is being carried out inside all the coaches by the Amethi police and the Bomb Disposal Squad. At the time of filing this report, the train was running late by 231 minutes.
