Woman Officer’s Begging Bowl: A female Government Officer in Bihar’s Buxar district has gone viral after she protested by sitting outside her office with a begging bowl, saying she had not been paid her salary for eight months.
Alpita Singh who works as a Rural Development Officer (RDO) in the Brahmpur block office, had sat outside with a bowl for two days to highlight her financial issues. She said she had only been paid for three months out of 11 months.
She said she had not been paid her salary for eight months despite fulfilling her duties.
She decided to protest by sitting outside the Brahmpur block office. Sitting with a begging bowl highlighted how difficult it was to work for the government without being paid her salary.
The Buxar district administration became aware of the situation and requested the Brahmpur Block Development Officer (BDO), Sonu Kumar to explain why Alpita Singh’s salary had not been paid.
They requested the BDO to explain why he had not paid the salary and who had made the decision. Officials said that no salary can be withheld from a government employee without following proper procedures and getting permission from the relevant authority.
