Former finance minister and senior Congress leader, P. Chidambaram, has questioned the Election Commission’s (EC) decision of not announcing the dates for Gujarat elections.

He took to Twitter where he wrote,  “EC will be recalled from its extended holiday after Gujarat Govt. has announced all concessions and freebies.”

Chidambaram further stated that the EC has authorised the PM to announce the date of Gujarat elections at his last rally.

The Election Commission announced the dates for Himachal Pradesh elections on 12 October but did not state the date for Gujarat assembly elections.

Chief Election Commissioner, AK Jyoti, had, however, said Gujarat polls will be held before 18 December, the day when the results of the Himachal Pradesh polls are to be announced.
