Monthly food stamps are deposited onto an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) debit card for recipients. This card is accepted at a variety of establishments, including supermarkets, markets on Wheels, and other retailers.

The quantity of aid disbursed via Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) vouchers is contingent upon an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) implemented by the USDA. As per the USDA’s estimation, the COLA for 2024 will be 3.2%; consequently, the maximum benefit amounts for December will be increased.

Maximum individual benefits have increased to $291, while maximum household benefits for eight members have increased from $535 for two members to $1,751 for eight members, plus $219 for each additional member.

“A SNAP program spokesperson emphasized, in response to a question regarding state-specific payment dates, that while the federal government provides the financial aid, each state government administers the program and determines the distribution dates.” Recipients must be cognizant of the payment schedule that is specific to their state.
