Indian Railways Cancels Delhi-Bound Trains on October 10

Rail travel limits are causing fresh trouble for commuters. Indian Railways said some mail and express trains will not run. The cancellations apply to services that were due in or out of New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4:00 am and 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 10.

In a notification, Western Railway announced that the Mumbai Central-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12951) and the Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express (12953) would be rescheduled by five hours. It also cancelled the Bandra Terminus-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express (12247), the Dr Ambedkar Nagar-New Delhi Express (20155), the Indore-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express (09309), the Indore-New Delhi Express (12415) and the Sabarmati-New Delhi Express (12957)

CJP Protest 10 October: Amritsar to Delhi Air Prices

This shift is hitting people in Punjab who usually use trains to get to the national capital.

A Times of India report dated October 9 said one-way flights on the Amritsar–Delhi route can now reach about ₹8,000. That is higher than the normal fare of roughly ₹4,000. The rise is linked to passengers looking for other ways to travel after train services were disrupted. Final prices depend on the airline, the time of departure, how many seats are left, and the booking terms.

Why Is CJP Planning a Protest in Delhi?

The Cockroach Janata Party, or CJP, has proposed a demonstration in Delhi. It is being planned with other groups as well. The move comes during a dispute around the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls.

Organisers say protesters want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to step down. They claim there were irregularities in how the voter list was updated. The steps taken by the Election Commission, and what followed after the update, have turned into a political flashpoint.

Delhi Police did not give approval for the October 10 gathering at Jantar Mantar. Police said the notice given by the organisers was too short. They also pointed to earlier alleged issues with protest rules. Police added that they were concerned about public safety and law and order.

Supreme Court Raises Concerns

Courts have started looking closely at these limits. The Supreme Court said it was worried about the plan to shut metro stations and cancel rail services. It stressed that safety steps should not trap regular riders outside of transit. “Everybody does not have a car… You cannot bring everything to a halt and leave people without any transport facility,” Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said.

The bench told the officials to rethink the plan. It wanted metro and rail work to stay in an orderly way. It said public transport should not be shut down fully. The Centre said it will ask the local authorities to revisit the restrictions. “We make it clear that there shall be no complete prohibition on movement of metro trains,” Supreme Court said.

Is Delhi Facing a Total Bandh on October 10?

No clear word has come out about a full blanket shutdown in Delhi. Still, some areas may see hard travel because of metro access limits, cancelled trains, tighter traffic rules, and extra security checks. More than 10 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and over 400 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, including women personnel, will be deployed at various stations.
