2010 Commonwealth gold medalist Dipika Kumari got engaged with fellow international archer Atanu Das on Monday December 10, at her ancestral home located at Ratu Chatti in Ranchi.

During the ceremony, a small puja was performed where both Dipika and Atanu took blessings of the god.

Dipika’s family said that the engagement function was held in a very simple and somber environment with only close relatives and friends invited to join. Among the quest were former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda along with his wife Meera Munda who came to pour out their blessing to the couple.

While the two got engaged this year, the marriage is planned for November 2019.

Interestingly, Atanu Das was the first to propose Deepika Kumari five years ago. The proposal took place after the World Cup match in Columbia where the dup won a Bronze medal in the Mixed doubles category.
