The Congress on Saturday reacted at the Janata Dal (United)’s resolution to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should change its name to the BJP-United.

Congress leader, Tom Vadakkan, felt that the merger was inevitable.

“This was bound to happen. This isn’t about the JD(U). It is about the BJP. They should change their name to the BJP-United”, he said, as quoted by ANI.

Vadakkan added that the real JD(U) must be left in the hands of its founder, Sharad Yadav.

Earlier on Saturday, the JD(U) passed a resolution to join the NDA during the party’s national executive meeting chaired by party leader and Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar.

Of late, the JD(U) broke free from the mahagathbandhan with Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) and the Congress to join hands and form the new government in the state along with the BJP. This has created a rift among many members of the party.
