The 2019 Copa América will be the 46th edition of the football tournament taking place in Brazil this year, the quadrennial international men’s association football championship organized by South America’s football ruling body CONMEBOL.
The 2019 Copa America will kick off on Friday with hosts Brazil taking on Bolivia in Sao Paulo. The tournament will run until the final on July 7.
A total number of 12 teams will participate in the 2019 Copa América. The 12 participating teams are – Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil (hosts), Chile (defending champions), Colombia, Ecuador, Japan (invited team), Paraguay, Peru, Qatar (invited team), Uruguay and Venezuela.

Chile will be looking to win the competition for the third time running, while Brazil will be aiming to win it for the first time since 2007. Argentina, meanwhile, have not won it since 1993.
Lionel Messi, who has failed to win any honours in an Argentine shirt will take part in yet another championship where a lot rides on his shoulders. His country is part of Group B along with Colombia, Paraguay and Qatar.
For the very first time, two teams from outside the Americas have been invited to be a part of the championship. Japan and Qatar are the two invited participants taking part.
