Delhi airport operator DIAL has announced that the new T1 terminal will begin operations on August 17. Major airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet will transfer a significant portion of their domestic flights to this new terminal. This shift follows the suspension of operations at the old T1 in late June due to a roof collapse incident.
The new terminal is a significant component of the phase 3A expansion project developed by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL). According to the plan, SpiceJet will move 13 flights to Terminal 1 beginning August 17, and IndiGo will shift 34 flights from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 starting September 2.
Inaugurated in March, the new T1 will join the three-terminal system at Delhi airport, which includes T1, T2, and T3, enhancing the facility’s capacity and operational efficiency.
