Virat Kohli, a veteran batsman for India, posted a cryptic Instagram story on Friday after being trolled by supporters on social media for his poor performance with the bat on Thursday.

India’s top-order collapsed under duress against Australia on Day 2 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval. Kohli scored 14 runs, including two boundaries. India were 151/5 on Day 2 in response to Australia’s first innings total of 469.

“You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other peoples’ opinions,” Kohli shared on his Instagram story, referencing a quote by American author Mark Manson.

Nathan Lyon dismissed Ravindra Jadeja for 48 runs late in India’s innings on Thursday after he had demonstrated promise. At the time this report was written, India’s score was 218/6 and Ajinkya Rahane had scored fifty. In addition, the partnership between Rahane and Shardul Thakur has surpassed 50 runs. India trail Australia by 251 runs as of the time this report was written.
