Drishyam director Nishikant Kamat passes away at 50

Bollywood filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has passed away today at a city hospital in Hyderabad. The 50-year old filmmaker had been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections.

According to reports, Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar, who was in touch with his close associate Ajay Rai in Hyderabad, had confirmed the same.

The 50-year-old filmmaker had battled liver cirrhosis in the past, which was said to have relapsed again.

Nishikant Kamat is known for directing Bollywood films like the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer ‘Drishyam’, and Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’. He has also worked with John Abraham in two films, ‘Force’ and ‘Rocky Handsome’.

Earlier, the hospital has said in a statement, Nishikant was brought to AIG hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad on 31st July with jaundice and abdominal distention. He has been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections.

He is in the Intensive Care Unit for continuous monitoring under the supervision of a multi-disciplinary team of senior consultants comprising of gastroenterologists, hepatologist, critical care and others. His condition is critical but stable.”

Kamat was last seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ starring Harshvardhan Kapoor. He was directing a project titled Darbadar which is scheduled for the 2022 release.
