Dunki Box Office Collection Day 1: In spite of the fact that Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan have both grossed Rs 1,000 crore worldwide, the actor’s latest film Dunki, released on Thursday, has not received the same buzz. The film earned Rs 30 crore nett domestically on its opening day, becoming the year’s seventh biggest opener after Jawan, Animal, Pathaan, Tiger 3, Gadar 2 and Adipurush, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
Based on opening day figures, Dunki is the least successful Shah Rukh Khan film of the year. However, it is still bigger than Kisi Ka Bhai Kii Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore) and Dream Girl 2 (Rs 10.69 crore).
The overall occupancy rate for Dunki on Thursday was 29.94%. There were 1,412 shows in the NCR region with an occupancy rate of approximately 31%, while there were 1,081 shows in Mumbai with a occupancy rate of approximately 29.75%. In order to compete with Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, which was released across the country on Friday in multiple languages, the film will need to release as a solo film on Thursday.

While it is Shah Rukh Khan’s least successful film of the year, the opening day collection is still higher than Zero, which opened to 19.35 crores and went on to earn only Rs 90.28 crores.
Although Rajkumar Hirani is well known for his successful box office record, the opening figures for Dunki are lower than those for his last hit, Sanju (2018). The Ranbir Kapoor starrer generated Rs 34.75 crore and finally earned Rs 342.53 crore. After Animal’s incredible success, Dunki starred Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal as pivotal characters.
