EPFO Interest: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has already credited the interest amount for the financial year 2024-25 to almost all of its members. As of July 8, around 97% of EPFO accounts have received the 8.25% interest, which is much earlier than usual. Last year, EPFO had started the credit process in August and finished it in December.

But this time, they finished most of the work in June itself. Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya explained that the entire crediting process became faster because it was now better organised and optimised.

This brought joy to crores of salaried people who rely on EPF savings for their future. Getting the interest added to their accounts so early in the financial year gives them more clarity about their funds. It also shows that EPFO is now working quicker and more efficiently than before. People used to wait for months, but now the wait is almost over before they even realise it.

EPFO sees huge jump in New Members

While the interest credit grabbed attention, another big development is EPFO’s rising member numbers. In April 2025, EPFO added 19.14 lakh members on a net basis. This was a huge jump which is about 31% more than in March 2025. It also marked a 1.17% rise over the same month in 2024.

EPFO also enrolled about 8.49 lakh brand-new subscribers in April 2025 alone. That’s a 12.49% rise compared to March. This shows that more people are becoming aware of the importance of saving for the future and are choosing to register with EPFO. Experts believe this happened because there are more job opportunities now and people are understanding their rights and benefits better, thanks to EPFO’s outreach efforts.

The biggest chunk of new subscribers came from the 18-25 age group. EPFO added 4.89 lakh members from this age group in April, which is more than half of all new members added that month. This number is 10% more than what it was in March. In total, about 7.58 lakh members from this age group joined EPFO on a net basis in April, showing a solid 13.60% increase from the previous month, reported India TV.
