Explosion at St Petersburg metro station: 10 dead, 20 injured

At least 10 people have died after an unidentified device exploded on the underground system at Sannaya metro station in St Petersburg.

At least seven stations on city subway network – “Victory Park”, “Electrosila”, “Moskovskiye Vorota”, “Frunze”, “Institute of Technology”, “Sennaya Ploshchad”, “Gostiny Dvor”-have been closed following the blast, Zero Hedge reported.

Preliminary reports indicate that some 10 people may have been killed and 20 injured in the blast, news agencies said citing sources close to the investigation.

The metro management told media that they received reports of an explosion inside the car, possibly of an improvised explosive device.
