Former Kolkata mayor and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s former aide, Sovan Chatterjee, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, August 14.
Chatterjee is an MLA from Behala Purba Assembly constituency.
Following a fallout with Mamata Banerjee, the leader had quit as the Kolkata Mayor and state minister in Bengal in November 2018.
Chatterjee was a Congress councillor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation earlier but he left the party in 1998 along with Mamata Banerjee.
