Freedom fighter Dayanidhi Nayak who fought during Quit India Movement, dies

One of the last two surviving of the 32 foot soldiers of Quit India Movement, Dayanidhi Nayak passed away on Saturday. He breathed his last at 7:30 AM yesterday at his native village Panimora, just four days before the celebration of 73rd Independence Day.

As per the reports, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bargarh for old age-related ailments for past one month.

He was 95 and is survived by his only daughter Swarupa Nayak.

Noted freedom fighter Nayak joined the Quit India movement against the British government and was a devout follower of Mahatma Gandhi. Inspired by Gandhian ideology and philosophy, the veteran had sacrificed all his personal comforts and pleasure to achieve freedom.

His dedication and sacrifice will keep him immortal in pages of Indian history.
