We will soon enter the year 2022, and all customers should be aware of when banks will be closed in January 2022 so that they can plan accordingly.
The only national holiday on which banks will be closed is Republic Day, which falls on January 26 (Wednesday). However, there are few cities such as Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh and some cities which do not observe bank holiday on January 26. There are also several state-specific holidays. Furthermore, throughout January, banks across the country will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as on Sundays.
The bank holidays are listed by state government, central government, and the union territories under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. On the below-mentioned dates, the bank will remain closed. Banks in India remain closed on the account of National holidays, government holidays, and on second and fourth Saturdays.
India observes three national holidays i.e. on January 26 (Republic Day), August 15 (Independence Day), and October 2 (Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti). Apart from these holidays, banks will remain closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
